Alkalizing Hot Lemon Water


Each morning I make a point to start my days with a glass of alkalizing hot lemon water. I’ve been doing this for awhile now, long enough to see the difference in the way I feel on days with or with out it. If you haven’t tried this yourself before, try drinking a glass first thing in the morning. I highly encourage you to give it a try and see how you feel. Meyer Lemons tend to be sweeter, a favorite of mine, and if you find it isn’t sweet enough for you try adding liquid stevia to the mix.

It’s best to wait 20-30 minutes afterwards before eating anything, allowing the time in between will help with digestion.

  1. Never heard of Meyer lemons. I just pick a lemon fresh from our trees which seem to fruit all year round. Seldom use a sweetener. We also have limes, I wonder if they have the same effect?


  2. I have recently started to pay some attention to alkalinity though I’ll admit I don’t have my head completely wrapped around it (candida et al??) This is a great tip that I will incorporate into my morning routine.


    1. Great! Have you tried using PH strips? They are great for seeing exactly where your body is. I really appreciate the feedback I get from them. As I tend to run acidic, they really work as a great tool and reminder to eat more alkaline foods! ๐Ÿ™‚


  3. I started forgoing my first coffee in favour of hot lemon water a couple of weeks ago. The difference in my body and skin is pretty bloody amazing! My insides feel cleaner, less sluggish, eyes brighter, skin clearer, I’m a morning person anyway but I’m even more alert than before. I’ve found myself wanting less coffee and more water during the day too.


  4. I had to give up coffee a few years back and have been doing this every morning. I love it! I get up, boil the water, jump in the shower and it’s the perfect temp after that ๐Ÿ™‚ Sometimes I add a bit of ginger or honey. When everyone around me gets colds/flus in the winter I’m always feeling fine and i know it’s because of the lemon water ๐Ÿ™‚


    1. Ginger, what a great idea. I’ve done that before, but just get so accustomed to plain lemon water. A dear friend of mine also likes to add a bit of pink Himalayan sea salt to the mix as well.
